Early voting sites, voter registration, mail ballot drop-off sites
LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Early voting for the 2024 primary election begins Saturday giving voters a an opportunity to cast their vote before primary election day on Tuesday, June 11.
Early Voting takes place from May 25 through June 7
There are numerous sites around the Las Vegas valley were people can take part in early voting starting Saturday morning. Click here for a list of sites and the dates and times of operation. Those needing to register to vote or update their voter registration can do so at this link.
Early voting sites are also mail ballot drop-off sites. There are 85 sites for early voting 20 of which will remain open the entire two-week period. Other locations in neighborhood areas will operate on specific dates.
Whose on the 2024 ballot?
Nevada’s primary election is “closed” which means only Democrat or Republican voters may cast a vote in partisan contests. Those contests include senate, congressional seats, and state representatives. But numerous other ballot items are non-partisan which anybody can vote on. Across the valley those include the Las Vegas mayoral race, four school board seats, three Las Vegas City Council positions, and three council seats in Henderson. “Our municipal elections are really the most important, especially for the City of Henderson residents. We have our council people for Wards 1, 2, and 4 all up for reelection and it is going to be an important election for the city. We hope that everyone comes out and votes,” said Kristin Harrell, Henderson’s operations manager.
Kids who tag along with parents to the Henderson polling sites, can also take part in voting, but not for candidates. They will vote on their favorite ice cream flavor and get a coupon from some free ice cream. There four flavors are chocolate, vanilla, cookies and cream and bubble gum.
