Early voting sites open for congressional special election

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — All 38 early voting sites for The 26th Congressional Special Election will be open starting April 20, according to the Erie County Board of Elections.

Early voting locations will be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 20 and April 21, 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. April 22 to April 26, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 27 and April 28.

The race will be between Democrat Timothy M. Kennedy and Republican Gary Dickson.

Kennedy grew up in Buffalo and was sworn in as a New York State Senator in 2011. He delivered $100 million to the NFTA for improvements of the metro rail and spearheaded the passage of Jay-J’s law, legislation that stiffens penalties for repeat child abusers.

Dickson is West Seneca Supervisor, elected in 2019 and re-elected in 2023. He previously served on the boards of the Family Justice Center and the Buffalo-Niagara Coalition for Open Government. The taxes in his town have not been raised in four years.
