Early voting dates announced for SAPD chief runoff election

SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — San Angelo residents will once again head to the polls to decide who will be the town’s next police chief after the previous election resulted in a runoff. Here’s where and when early voting will be.

The May 4 election saw San Angelo Police Department chief candidates Lt. Mike Hernandez and Sgt. Travis Griffith come within 199 votes of one another. The Tom Green County Elections Office’s final unofficial count for the election saw Hernandez end with 3,279 votes, eking out an edge over Griffith’s 3,080 votes.

According to the Tom Green County Elections Office’s elections webpage, early voting will occur during the following dates and times:

  • June 3-7

    • 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

  • June 10-11

    • 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.

Early voting will be held in the election office of the Edd B. and Frances Frink Keyes Building, which is located at 113 W. Bearegard Ave.

After early voting comes and goes, the election will be officially held on June 15 at several polling places across San Angelo from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. This will also be the last day that voters can receive their ballot by mail.
