Early voting begins Saturday at 23 locations with presidential primary, municipal elections
Early voting for the presidential primary along with 23 municipal races begins Saturday, March 9 for the 863,739 registered voters in Palm Beach County.
In the past, nearly one-third of those voters will have weighed in before Election Day, which is Tuesday, March 19 this year. As of Jan. 4, 520 new voters registered in Palm Beach County and 8,037 have changed party affiliations.
This year, there will be 23 sites open throughout the county from 7 a.m. through 7 p.m. daily. That is seven more than were available four years ago. The sites also will be open for "Souls to the Polls" voting, the Sunday before Election Day, when many residents go directly from pews to polling places.
People who choose to vote by mail in Palm Beach County can drop their ballots off at early voting sites, without waiting in line. There'll be drop boxes for the purpose.
And again this year, early voters will use the EVid tablet for voting. When you sign in, each EVid has its own printer and your ballot will be printed on the spot and handed to you so there's no chance of picking up the wrong ballot.
Any eligible voter can vote at any early voting location. Only registered Republicans can vote for a GOP candidate in the presidential primary. The Florida Democratic Party nominated Joseph R. Biden Jr. as its only candidate and chose him for this November's ballot last year, so there will be no presidential preference ballot for voters registered with the Democratic Party.
