The Denver Broncos have absolutely enjoyed playing the San Diego Chargers since Peyton Manning joined them in 2012. Denver has gone 8-1 against Philip Rivers’ squad, and the meetings haven’t generally been all that close.

It’s hard to forget the miraculous Week 6 comeback in 2012:

With Manning and the Broncos struggling at 2-3 through the first five games of 2012, they were in danger of slipping to 2-4 on the season, trailing 24-0 at halftime.

In typical Manning fashion, the Broncos staged a rally, while Rivers and the Chargers had yet another debacle. Denver rode the momentum to win 35-24 and wouldn’t lose another game for the remainder of the regular season. So it’s been a pretty easy opponent for Denver. Rivers hasn’t been able to solve the Broncos defense in any way, while the Broncos have completely exposed the Chargers weaknesses in the trenches and in the secondary.

The Broncos could have a tough time stopping this Chargers team in 2016. After all, superstar receiver Keenan Allen will be healthy after missing half of the season with a kidney injury, and the team signed star wideout Travis Benjamin. Along with Antonio Gates in the fold, Denver may have a tough time slowing down this offense.

The key word is “may.” They’re still a far better team, and until Rivers and the terrible Chargers o-line can hold off Denver’s ferocious front-seven, the Denver offense may just need 17 points to put this away.

Prediction: Broncos 20, Chargers 13
