A+E Networks Channels Will Be Included In AT&T’s DirecTV Now Service
AT&T’s planned DirecTV Now streaming service will include A+E Networks outlets including A&E, Lifetime, History, LMN, FYI, and Viceland, the companies say this morning.
DirecTV Now, due to launch by year end, “will offer consumers a new way of receiving our content giving our viewers access to our strong portfolio of entertainment brands.” A+E Networks Distribution President David Zagin says.
Analysts are watching to see what channels might be left out of DirecTV Now, a potential challenger to traditional cable TV packages. AT&T will offer more than 100 live and on demand channels at what CEO Randall Stephenson said last week would be “a very, very aggressive price.”
AT&T’s costs rise as it adds channels to the package.
Stephenson said AT&T will be able to offer a bargain because it won’t require a set top box, satellites, long-term contracts or credit checks. Mobile streaming won’t count against data caps for AT&T’s wireless customers.
This month AT&T cut deals to include Scripps Networks, Turner, NBCUniversal, and Discovery in DirecTV Now.
