Dynegy says COO Kevin Howell resigned

Dynegy says COO Kevin Howell resigned Friday; Howell joined company in June 2011

HOUSTON (AP) -- Power producer Dynegy Inc. says Chief Operating Officer Kevin Howell stepped down on Friday.

The company said Monday that it will name a replacement for Howell during the first quarter. Howell became Dynegy's COO in June 2011 and the company said he joined during an important stage of Dynegy's restructuring process. The company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in July 2012 and emerged from that protection in October.

Dynegy said Howell will remain a company adviser. He is a former president of NRG Texas and Reliant Energy, and retired from NRG in August 2010.
