Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson now owns ‘Jabroni’ and other famous catchphrases

Finally, The Rock owns the intellectual property rights catchphrases.
Just last month, it was revealed that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson had joined the board of TKO Group, the sports entertainment powerhouse that houses UFC and the WWE.
Upon joining the board, an agreement was established to allow Johnson to own his in-ring name The Rock.
It turns out, the wrestler-turned-actor now owns the IP to many of his ring nicknames like The People’s Champion and The Great One and popular taglines like “Roody Poo,” “Candy Ass,” “Jabroni,” “If you smell what The Rock is cooking, “It doesn’t matter” and “Know Your Role and Shut Your Mouth.”
Other items listed in the Intellectual Property Assignment Agreement are: Rocky Maivia, Team Corporate, Rock Nation, The Nation, The Samoan Sensation, The Blue Chipper, The Brahma Bull, Team Bring It, The Rock Just Bring It, The People’s Elbow, Rock Botton, “Finally, The Rock has come back to …,” “It doesn’t matter what…,” “Blue Hell,” “The millions… (and millions),” Rockpocalypse, Project Rock and the most electrifying man in sports and entertainment.
“IP is protected in law by, for example, patents, copyright and trademarks, which enable people to earn recognition or financial benefit from what they invent or create,” states the World Intellectual Property Organization.
The agreement was made and entered on Jan. 22.
Sources told The Hollywood Reporter that the WWE has a license to use The Rock’s intellectual property “for certain categories and products for 10 years, and during that period Johnson can’t license the IP to businesses competitive with TKO.”
The outlet reports that Johnson was given “other nicknames, caricatures, voice, signature, gestures, routines, costumes or parts of costumes, accessories, [and] crowns” associated with his stage name.
All of this comes as Johnson’s returned to the WWE this year.
He’s since teased a match at WrestleMania XL on April 6 and 7 in Philadelphia.
The Teremana founder is set to appear on the WWE weekly show Smackdown on March 1 in Glendale, Arizona, which also airs on Fox at 8 p.m.
“Greatness is coming this Friday night,” he teased on Instagram. “Finally your life is going to have meaning. Get off your fat a–es and be inspired by all this greatness in the flesh.”
He revealed that he’ll also appear on the show on March 8 in Dallas, Texas, and March 15 in Memphis, Tennessee.
