Dutch Bros hosting fundraiser to support ALS research

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Dutch Bros on Friday will host its 18th annual fundraiser in the fight against ALS.

The “Drink One for Dane” fundraiser is named for the coffee chain’s co-founder Dane Boersma, who died in 2009 from ALS, or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, an incurable neurodegenerative disease.

A portion of the proceeds from every drink sold Friday will be donated to the nonprofit Muscular Dystrophy Association, which conducts ALS research and advocacy.

“Drink One for Dane holds a special place in our company’s heart and has been a part of our giving DNA for the past 18 years,” Tana Davila, chief marketing officer at Dutch Bros, said in a release. “We’re honored to support the integral work MDA does to move ALS research and care forward towards a cure.”

Customers can donate directly to the MDA at www.dutchbros.com/drink-one-for-dane.
