Dust, rain ushers in slight drop in temperatures for the week for Phoenix

After a week of temperatures ranging in the high 90s, including a high of 100 degrees on Friday, Phoenix residents will experience a slight drop in temperatures throughout the week and some showers on Monday, according to the National Weather Service.

On Monday, the weather service issued a dust advisory for the southern parts of Maricopa and Pinal counties until 2:45 p.m., warning against low visibility and strong winds in the Valley.

Monday's midday high of 88 degrees also brought in a mixture of clouds and light rain, in addition to 20-mph gusts.

The weather service reported dry and clear conditions with the forecast rising steadily to the mid-90s for metro Phoenix starting on Tuesday and for the rest of the week, with temperatures dipping slightly back down to the low-90s as the weekend approaches.

According to National Weather Service meteorologist Mark O'Malley, the current forecast reflects "very typical" conditions for this time of year in the Valley, adding that tranquil, dry weather can be expected for the remainder of the week without further impacts.

Overnight lows are expected to straddle the mid-to-high-60s throughout the week and following into the weekend accompanied by clear skies, according to the forecast.
