Recently Kellogg's-the purveyor of beloved cereals, breakfast pastries, potato crisps, granola bars, and more-decided to pull the plug on advertisements it was running on the alt-right website Breitbart. And now the publication is encouraging readers to boycott the food giant.

According to USA Today, Kellogg's said it decided to end its relationship with Breitbart because the views the site expressed "do not align with the company's values."

In response, the publication's editor-in-chief issued a statement asking his 45 million monthly readers to avoid the brand's products, saying "for Kellogg's, an American brand, to blacklist Breitbart News in order to placate left-wing totalitarians is a disgraceful act of cowardice."

Except the most recent boycotts led by Trump supporters has only benefitted the brands involved. After Mike Pence had an "interesting" experience at the award-winning musical and Trump publicly denounced it, Hamilton set a Broadway record for ticket sales.

And when with a single Starbucks barista refused to write the president-elect's name on the famous red cup, Trump supporters started a protest (or a movement or whatever you want to call it)... that required them to purchase drinks at the chain, and arguably boost sales.

So will this boycott end up being a win for Kellogg's? The megawatt food brand produces consumer favorites, including breakfast cereals like Frosted Flakes, Raisin Bran, and Smacks; plus dozens more outside of the cereal category, like Pop-Tarts, Pringles, Eggo, Morning Star, Keebler, and Cheez-Its. Only time-and hungry Apple Jacks fans-will tell.
