Duke's Reddish (knee) scratched from starting lineup

Alex O'Connell started for Duke in place of freshman Cam Reddish on Friday in the Blue Devils' NCAA Tournament East Region semifinal against Virginia Tech in Washington.

Duke, the No. 1 seed in the East, took the court for warmups without Reddish, though he did practice the day before and was in uniform for the game, ESPN reported.

CBS reported Reddish had an issue with his left knee, though Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski made no mention of the injury during his Thursday media session.

O'Connell, a 6-foot-6 sophomore, did not play for Duke (31-5) last Sunday in a victory over UCF. He was averaging 4.6 points in 13.7 minutes per game this season. He started five games while Zion Williamson was sidelined with a knee injury.

A 6-8 forward, Reddish started 35 games for the Blue Devils this season, averaging 13.6 points. He scored 25 total points in the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament, including 13 in Duke's one-point win over the Knights on Sunday.
