Duke's Reddish (knee) scratched from starting lineup vs. Va Tech

Alex O'Connell started for Duke in place of freshman Cam Reddish in Friday's NCAA Tournament East Region semifinal against Virginia Tech in Washington, D.C.

Duke, the No. 1 seed in the East, took the court for warmups without Reddish. CBS reported Reddish had an issue with his left knee but arrived with the team prior to the game.

O'Connell, a 6-foot-6 sophomore, did not play for Duke (31-5) in Sunday's victory over UCF. He averaged 4.6 points in 13.7 minutes per game this season. He started five games while Zion Williamson was sidelined with a knee injury.

A 6-8 forward, Reddish started 35 games for the Blue Devils this season, averaging 13.6 points per game. He scored 25 total points in the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament, including 13 in Duke's one-point win over UCF on Sunday.
