BAY COUNTY — CCA Florida the Duke Energy Mariculture Center and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) will host the 2024 Redfish Film Fest April 11-13 in an attempt to fight the declining redfish population.

What is the event?

Duke Energy Mariculture Center and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) kick off the 2024 Redfish Film Fest today (April 11) at noon. They will release 50 hatchery-reared, adult redfish (averaging 18 to 27 inches in length) off the waters of Bay County in effort to combat the decreasing population along Florida’s West Coast.

FWC Executive Director Roger Young, FWC Chief Conservation Officer George Warthen, state Sen. Jay Trumbull , CCA Florida Executive Director Brian Gorski.

The organizations will join forces and take a proactive approach to stock enhancement by helping replenish the redfish fishery.
