Duke City Gladiators open season at home on Monday

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Duke City Gladiators will open their fourth season in the IFL on Monday against the San Diego Strike Force. This game will be the first for former Gladiators Head Coach Dominic Bramante since returning to the team this offseason.

“Return to glory. you know, this is a program that has seen the highest of highs and are we good enough to return to glory,” said Dominic Bramante.

The Gladiators are coming off of a 5-10 season, which is the worst that they have had since joining the IFL back in 2021. A 2-time CIF Championship winning coach with the Gladiators, Bramante looks to bring back the teams former glory, and while this team is still a work in progress he hopes they are accepting the process.

“When you are going into your first week, and you haven’t had a preseason game, it’s all about execution. Can we protect the football; can we execute; can we cut down on the mental mistakes? That’s what we are really going to be looking for. We always said trust the process, and so that’s what we are looking to do. We are really looking to buy into the process”, said Bramante.

Their season opener at the Rio Rancho Events Center is a doozy as the Gladiators will host former Duke City QB Nate Davis.

“This is going to be a war, Nate Davis. We have competed against Nate for a long time. You know, the rivalry with Nate, when he was in Amarillo was the closest thing in indoor football to Pittsburgh vs Baltimore, and I expect nothing different. It’s going to be really exciting and to get back into coaching after a couple years and your first game back is against Nate Davis; it doesn’t get any better than that,” said Bramante.

The Duke City Gladiators will host San Diego on Monday at 6:05 p.m. That game will be played at the Rio Rancho Events Center.
