Polish President Andrzej Duda met with former US President Donald Trump at Trump Tower in Manhattan, New York, polish outlet RMF24 reported on April 18.

Polish President noted that the meeting was closed. Duda was accompanied by ministers from his office: Marcin Mastalerek and Wojciech Kolarski.

Earlier, Trump said he had a personal relationship with Duda and recalled his cooperation with the Polish president.

“Poles love him, they love him very much, and it’s not easy to achieve,” Trump said.

“But he’s doing a fantastic job, he’s my friend, and we’ve had four great years together.”

Kolarski said it was a great meeting.

“Long, almost two-and-a-half-hour conversation was held in a great atmosphere,” minister said.

“It was a meeting between two friends.”

Even before leaving to United States, Duda said he wanted to have a good relationship with former - and possibly future - US president.

“Of course, we are also interested in meeting with influential people in United States,” Duda said.

At a briefing in New York, Duda was asked about planned talks with Trump and whether he was afraid that meeting “could cause some antagonism in Joe Biden administration.”

“No, I’m not afraid because presidents meet with their colleagues, especially those who once held presidential positions,” Duda answered.

“This is a normal practice, there is nothing extraordinary about it.”
