Ducks, Beavers, UP all set to dance in NCAA tourney

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — College basketball teams from around the state of Oregon are expecting to get berths in the NCAA tournament when the selections are announced Sunday afternoon.

On the men’s side, the Oregon Ducks grabbed the 11-seed in the Midwest Region and will face 6-seed South Carolina, which went 26-7 overall. They play on Thursday in Pittsburgh.

The Ducks swiped a berth into the tournament with a thrilling victory in the final Pac-12 conference championship on Saturday in Las Vegas.

The Ducks had to win the conference tournament to get into the NCAA Tournament. By winning the conference tournament, fourth-seeded Oregon (23-11) will play in the big tourney because the Ducks weren’t projected to receive an at-large invitation to the 68-team field. This was the Ducks’ sixth Pac-12 Tournament championship and first since 2019.

WOMEN’S BRACKET

On the women’s side, the Oregon State Beavers and the University of Portland Pilots were both chosen for the March dance.
