Duchess Kate breaks protocol with chic pants during visit to Cyprus

It seems that the Duchess of Cambridge is taking cues from her sister-in-law's style playbook.

The mother-of-three arrived in Cyprus on Wednesday alongside Prince William to visit to the Royal Air Force's base to meet with the families of deployed military personnel ahead of the holiday season. It was her second look of the week -- the first being a stunning crystal Jenny Packham gown at a Buckingham reception on Tuesday -- that's left royal fans in awe.

The duchess swapped her festive skirts and coat dresses for a style that Duchess Meghan has become well known for: trousers.

Although Kate's been spotted in pants before (leggings to participate in Coach Core, as well as printed paints and jeans for various engagements), we believe this is the first time we're seeing her in a pair of business pants. And a very on-trend pair, at that!

For the quick visit, the 36-year-old royal opted for a pair of wide-legged black pants from Jigsaw ($171), which she paired with a simple white shirt and olive green blazer from Smythe ($695). She accessorized the business chic look with a matching suede clutch by L.K. Bennett and pumps.

Unsurprisingly, the duchess' risky look left Twitter royally impressed. Some have even attributed her surprising choice to the "Meghan effect."
