The Seahawks may avoiding what would be a bad situation with the Cardinals’ pass rush about to come at them and Russell Wilson.

Pro Bowl veteran left tackle Duane Brown returned to practice Thursday. So what that he was a limited participant.

Until Brown returned to practice, Seattle was considering the possibility of rookie draft choice Stone Forsythe, inactive for all but two games this season or undrafted rookies Jake Curhan or Greg Eiland possibly having to play left tackle against Arizona’s lethal edge rushers Chandler Jones and Markus Golden.

Jones, a two-time All-Pro, has six sacks this season. He had four of Wilson in one game in Seattle in 2019. Golden has nine sacks this season.

The 36-year-old Brown injured his groin and hip stepping on another player in the second half of Seattle’s loss at Green Bay four days earlier.

Brown missed practice Wednesday. So did Jamarco Jones, Brown’s replacement for the final 21 plays against the Packers last weekend. Jones missed practice again on Thursday. He has a back injury.

A less-than-fully-healthy Brown playing against Jones, Golden and the swarming, first-place Cardinals (8-2) is also an issue for Seattle (3-6). Brown has uncharacteristically allowed seven sacks in nine games, in this his 14th season and final year of his contract.

In Arizona, quarterback Kyler Murray was a limited participant in practice for the second straight day. Murray injured his ankle two weeks ago on the final play of the Cardinals’ home loss to the Packers. He hasn’t played since. Arizona coach Kliff Kingsbury told Phoenix-area reporters Monday he is considering the Cardinals’ having a bye next week and the possibility of resting Murray’s sprained ankle again on Sunday in Seattle to give him an extended break for the stretch run of the regular season.

Colt McCoy, the 35-year-old backup who started Arizona’s 34-10 loss to Carolina last week, was a limited participant again Thursday. He left last weekend’s game in the third quarter with a pectoral injury.

Alex Collins did not practice. He’s been hurting for most of the last month, now with a groin issue. That’s a Seahawks issue because Collins is the fill-in lead running back in place of Chris Carson. Carson remains on injured reserve with a neck issue that coach Pete Carroll said this week has failed to progress as the team had hoped.

Gerald Everett did not practice Thursday. He injured his groin in the Green Bay game. Will Dissly would become the lead tight end and Colby Parkinson would rise in prominence in play caller Shane Waldron’s game plan for Sunday if Everett cannot play.

Defensive end Kerry Hyder missed his second consecutive practice. He injured his calf in Green Bay.

Safety Jamal Adams was a new addition to the injury report Thursday. He was limited in practice with what the team listed as a groin issue.

Wide receiver DK Metcalf returned to full participation in practice after taking Wednesday off to rest his sore foot. Metcalf has gotten at least one day off from practice to rest his foot for most of this season then has played in each of Seattle’s nine games.
