Drying out but a second system arrives late week

Columbus, Ga. (WRBL)– The last bit of showers and storms associated with a cold front has moved out, now we’ll dry out before a second system arrives Friday into the weekend.

Expect a few areas of patchy fog for the first half of Wednesday then decreasing clouds, breezy and warm with highs in the low to middle 80s. The calm and sunny weather will continue Thursday with high temperatures in the upper 80s.

Our next chance for rain and storms will arrive on Friday into the weekend. Expect a few showers early Friday morning and then scattered showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening. Severe storms look to remain to our west across Mississippi and western Alabama, but I can’t rule out a couple of strong storms in east Alabama.

Scattered showers and storms will continue through Saturday afternoon and evening and into early Sunday morning as the physical front begins to pull through.  Temperatures will remain in the low to middle 80s Friday into the weekend thanks to cloud cover and storms.

Don’t expect a cool down behind this front, little to no cool air will be present. Expect high temperatures in the upper 80s by early next week.
