"Drug War" joins many film fests

1 Mar – 2013 seems to be a good year for Hong Kong film director Johnnie To, as his latest crime-thriller, "Drug War", has been going from one film festival to another.

According to HK Top Ten, his latest movie starring Louis Koo and mainland actor Sun Honglei, will be opening for the Osaka Asian Film Festival before making its journey to the Taiwan Golden Horse Fantastic Film Festival.

At the same time, it was also selected for a gala premiere at the Hong Kong International Film Festival and nominated for this year's Asian Film Award in the Best Picture, Best Screenplay, and Best Editing categories, among others.

It is an amazing achievement for the yet-to-be released movie, as it also competed in the 7th Rome Film Festival and the 2013 Rotterdam International Film Festival earlier.

Meanwhile, Johnnie To recently announced that the film will have two premieres on 19 March. The movie has been dubbed as the most anticipated movie to date, as it also marks the first time in 30 years the director shot a movie in mainland China.
