‘This drug house is closed for business’: Colbert County Sheriff’s Office displays sign in yard after drug bust

COLBERT COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — The Colbert County Sheriff’s Office displayed a sign in front of a house after a recent drug arrest that read “This drug house is closed for business.”

The bust took place at a house on Sterling Boulevard in Sheffield on February 22 and saw two men arrested on drug charges.

According to the sheriff’s office, Dennoriss Richardson, 38, of Sheffield was charged with drug trafficking. Along with Richardson, Demarquis Davis, 31, of Muscle Shoals was charged with possession of controlled substance.

Officers say they found $1,700 in cash, 35 grams of ice, 14 grams of cocaine, 20 Oxycodone pills, marijuana, and a firearm when they searched the house.

Sheriff Eric Balentine said in an email that the signs are a way for the department to show the community that they are working to fight against drugs.

“We are taking a more direct approach to fight the war on drugs. Our citizens are tired of the dealers arrogance,” said Balentine. “We want people to know when we hit a drug house. That’s where the signs come in.”
