Drought conditions unchanged in the Dakotas

Latest US Drought Monitor map shows drought conditions remain unchanged in the Dakotas

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- Drought conditions in the Dakotas have not changed with the start of the new year.

The latest U.S. Drought Monitor map shows all of South Dakota and just over half of North Dakota remaining in some form of drought. Another third of North Dakota remains classified as abnormally dry.

South Dakota remains much worse off, with nearly two-thirds of the state in the worst two categories of drought, extreme and exceptional. North Dakota continues to have no areas in those two categories.
