Drones and ammunition in new German military aid package

Berlin will deliver another security assistance package to Ukraine, which includes munitions, UAVs, armored vehicles, grenade launchers, and other military equipment, Ukraine’s General Staff announced on March 29.

The new package contains 18,000 155mm artillery shells and 24,000 rounds of 40mm ammunition.

According to the German Federal Government’s website, the contents of the aid tranche include the following:

  • 14 Warthog All Terrain Tracked Carriers

  • 70 GMG grenade launchers

  • Leopard 2 tank ammunition

  • 14 Vector reconnaissance drones

  • 30 RQ-35 Heidrun reconnaissance drones

  • Five anti-drone sensors and jammers

  • 180 RF 360 drone detection system field kits

  • Six WISENT 1 mine clearing tanks

  • Two BIBER bridge-laying tanks

  • Bergepanzer 2 armored recovery vehicle

  • DACHS armored engineering vehicle

  • Nine mine-clearing vehicles

  • SATCOM surveillance system

  • Three border guard vehicles

  • Six Zetros tankers

Germany will also provide over 300 infrared cameras, 2000 RGW 90 Matador handheld anti-tank grenade launchers, thousands of camouflage nets, ponchos, and emergency generators.

Germany has already provided military assistance to Ukraine totaling approximately EUR 28 billion ($30 billion).
