Drone Captures the Sheer, Ridiculous Size of the Soon-To-Be 'Most Expensive' House

We’ve already written about the 100,000-square-foot gargantumansion that Niles Niami is building in Los Angeles’ Bel Air, which he plans to plunk on the market for half a billion dollars. We even ran pictures.

But they just don’t capture the magnitude of this thing like a drone video does. The sheer size of it, propped up on 4 acres of hilltop, is overwhelming. The unfinished property already dwarfs otherwise massive mansions that surround it. It even seems to dwarf downtown Los Angeles in the background.

While the video does a good job of helping us understand exactly how big the mansion is, it’s still pretty difficult to believe that any home is worth $500 milion, no matter how many pools it has (four).

You can read more about the mansion, and a few other nine-figure spec palaces being built in Los Angeles, here.

As for the most expensive home currently on the market, that’s the Le Palais Royal in Florida, which reclaimed the title from Palazzo di Amore, a Beverly Hills mansion/entertainment complex/vineyard, by adding such necessary features as an underground ice skating rink and go-kart track. The Palazzo, once asking $195 million, has given up the good fight to grow potatoes.

Niami’s mansion is expected to hit the market at $500,000,000 next year – which would make it far and away the most expensive U.S. home on the market.
