Drivers caught speeding near 100 mph half an hour apart

(EL PASO COUNTY, Colo.) — Two drivers were caught within half an hour of each other speeding at around 100 mph in the same area east of the Colorado Springs Airport, according to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPSO).

EPSO posted about the reckless drivers on Wednesday, April 24, and said both were caught Wednesday afternoon in the same area, near Highway 94 and Corral Valley Road, within 29 minutes of each other. One driver was caught going 99 mph, and the other was caught going 105, both in a 65 mph zone.

Both drivers were ticketed for Reckless Driving and Speeding by a deputy, EPSO said.

EPSO also cautioned drivers against speeding, warning that traffic violations could cost you serious cash, along with other penalties.

In Colorado, the penalty for going more than 25 miles over the maximum lawful speed of 75 mph is up to a $300 fine and a minimum of 10 days in jail, and reckless drivers will face consequences.

On Tuesday, a motorcyclist who went viral for traveling from Colorado Springs to Denver in 20 minutes was sentenced to 14 days in jail and had his driving privileges revoked in the State of Colorado.

The time you save by speeding isn’t worth the cost or the risk.
