Driver wanted after hitting pedestrian in Porterville

PORTERVILLE, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A driver is wanted in connection with a hit and run, resulting in the injury of a pedestrian in Porterville, the Porterville Police Department said.

Officers say they responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian traffic collision in the 1000 block of West Westfield Avenue on Sunday at 8:55 p.m.

Upon arrival, police say they located the victim on Westfield Avenue suffering from apparent major injuries. Officers rendered aid until medical personnel arrived. The victim was transported by air ambulance to a local hospital for treatment.

The Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) was summoned and responded to conduct the collision investigation.

According to investigators, it was determined that the victim was walking eastbound on Westfield Avenue in the westbound travel lane of the roadway when an unknown driver in a silver Honda was traveling westbound in the westbound travel lane of Westfield Avenue.

The Honda failed to stop for the pedestrian in the roadway, colliding with the victim.

The driver, according to detectives, did not stop after the collision and fled the scene. Officers located debris from the vehicle, which identified the color and make of the vehicle, however, the driver is still outstanding.
