Driver suspected of DUI, speeding in North Las Vegas crash that killed woman

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A woman crossing the street in North Las Vegas was struck and killed by a driver suspected of DUI and speeding.

According to North Las Vegas police, the woman, who was in her 30s, was not in a marked crosswalk when she was struck around 8 p.m. Monday on Las Vegas Boulevard south of Belmont Street. She was transported to UMC Trauma where she died from her injuries.

The driver of the Hyundai Sonata who struck her is identified as 63-year-old Timmy Cormier. According to court documents, he is facing charges of DUI, speeding, and possessing a firearm while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. He was booked into the North Las Vegas Community Correctional Center.

The woman’s identity will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s office.
