Driver stopped for speeding tells Fairfax County police officer he was ‘trying to get some breakfast’

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) — The hunger was real, it seemed, when a police officer pulled over a driver for speeding.

The Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD) shared video of a traffic stop in a post on the X platform. The post said: “Not yourself when you’re hungry? Officer Kodabakhchian reminds us that speeding to satisfy our hunger isn’t worth the risk. Hop in for a ride-along as he educates drivers about safe speeds & responsible driving habits.”

77 mph, 55 mph over the speed limit: Fairfax County police call out ‘road sharks’

In the video, Officer Kodabakhchian explained to the driver that he stopped him for speeding. Kodabakhchian goes on to tell the driver that the speed limit along Route 123 is 35 mph, but that he paced the driver at 65 mph at one point and, then, clocked at 56 mph when he dropped his speed.

When Kodabakhchian asked him if there was a reason for the excessive speed, the driver said, “I’m trying to get some breakfast,” apologizing to Kodabakhchian as the two talked.

The officer told the driver that he was in between lanes a little bit. Kodabakhchian suggested that he try to pay attention to the road and get to his destination safely before checking his license, citing him, and sending him on his way.
