Driver of stolen vehicle hits Nolensville police car during chase

NOLENSVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — LPR cameras are paying dividends in Nolensville where another suspect is identified and chased out of town.

For the third time in a month, LPR cameras alert on a stolen vehicle. It happened Friday when police say a Nissan Maxima reported stolen out of Nashville in November, passed by a Nolensville LPR camera.

When the officer pulled the Maxima over, the car hung a U-turn and impacted the police SUV that was moving to block the vehicle’s path.

Within moments, three Nolensville squad cars were in pursuit on Nolensville Road. At times speeds were over 80 mph on the crowded stretch of road.

In the end, traffic was too heavy and the suspect got away.

Thankfully, nobody was hurt, the squad car suffered a damaged push bar that will need to be replaced.

“Once again, LPRs help us out to let us know that the bad guys are in our city,” said Sgt. Josh Combs, Nolensville Police.

In late March, LPR cameras capture a Uhaul truck stolen out of Mt. Juliet. When officers went to stop it, the van almost ran over a Nolensville officer who had exited his vehicle to make a felony stop on the driver.

On April 7, LPR cameras alerted on a stolen Hyundai out of Nashville. Inside the car, police found two 15-year-old boys who were wearing masks and had burglary tools.
