Driver nearly crushed by Metrolink train in Southern California

A motorist “luckily” avoided injury after driving through the crossing guard and stopping in front of a Metrolink train in San Bernardino last week.

Officers responded to the collision involving a four-door sedan and the train last Friday, the San Bernardino Police Department posted on Instagram.

“It was determined the driver of the vehicle was traveling at an unsafe speed, resulting in him being unable to stop in time,” police said in the post.

The driver’s Nissan Altima came to a stop on the tracks after crashing into the crossing arm.

The unidentified motorist was unable to exit through his driver’s side door following the collision, police said.

Once outside the vehicle, the driver was deemed to be OK.
