Driver hospitalized after ejecting from car during rollover crash in Campbell County

CAMPBELL COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — A driver was taken to the hospital after their car flipped more than four times and went down an embankment in Campbell County early Tuesday morning.

According to the Rustburg Volunteer Fire Department (RVFD), just after 2 a.m. on April 16, crews were called to the 1900 block of Campbell Highway for a crash.

While on the scene, first responders learned that a Nissan Altima was allegedly traveling south when the driver lost control. The car then crossed over the northbound lanes and went 10 feet down an embankment.

The fire department said the car flipped about four to six times, ejecting the driver from the vehicle.

We’re told the driver was found lying on the edge of the road. Medics began treating them at the scene and they were rushed to the hospital for treatment.

The Lyn-Dan Heights Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene to help block traffic as crews worked to clear the scene. RVFD says first responders worked on the scene for more than hours.

At this time, the driver’s condition is unknown.
