Driver flees deadly hit-and-run crash in South Los Angeles

Authorities are searching for a hit-and-run driver who struck and killed a pedestrian in the Willowbrook area of South Los Angeles Tuesday.

The crash was reported around 4:15 a.m. on Rosecrans Avenue just west of South Broadway.

Arriving officers found a 60-year-old man down as a result of the crash, the California Highway Patrol confirmed in a news release.

The pedestrian, whose identification is being withheld pending next of kin notification, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators believe the man was walking in traffic lanes when he was struck by the vehicle, the news release stated.

The driver then fled the scene in an unknown direction.

No description of the suspect or the suspect’s vehicle was available.
