Driver escapes with minor injuries after vehicle nearly splits in half

FRENCH VILLAGE, Ill. – An Illinois driver escapes a single-car crash with only minor injuries, despite the vehicle being nearly split in half.

The French Village Fire Department responded to a single-vehicle crash around 8:30 a.m. near the eight-mile marker westbound on I-64.

At the scene they discovered a single car that had been nearly split in half after smashing into a light pole. The driver was the only one in the car at the time of the accident.

The driver was found walking around and had only minor injuries. Emergency Medical Services brought the driver to a local hospital for a check-up.

The fire department took the opportunity to remind everyone to exercise caution and reduce speed while driving. They said that this incident could have easily led to a different outcome.
