Driver eludes police, then crashes the car

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — On Saturday, May 11, 2024, around 9:35 p.m. a driver eluded a deputy from the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPSO) and then caused a crash.

According to EPSO, the driver of the car was headed westbound on North Carefree Circle in the area of Peterson Road when an El Paso County Deputy attempted a traffic stop. After eluding the deputy, the car continued through the intersection of Tutt Blvd. and North Carefree Circle and ran into a vehicle headed southbound on Tutt.

The occupants of the second car were transported to a local hospital and suffered only minor injuries. The driver of the first car was detained by EPSO.

Colorado Springs Police officers responded to the scene and took over the crash investigation, while EPSO was charging the suspect.
