Police have urged people not to drink-drive after three people were arrested on suspicion in Guernsey in one weekend.

Police said one of the alleged offenders was about three times over the legal drink-drive limit.

The arrests were part of Guernsey Police's drink-drive operation.

Officers have stopped more than 80 vehicles and made eight arrests. The legal limit is 35 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath.

Of the eight arrests, the highest reading was 122 micrograms of alcohol.

The three arrests on Saturday and Sunday saw two 44-year-old men charged for readings of 104 micrograms of alcohol and 54 micrograms of alcohol respectively, police said. The third person was bailed pending further inquiries.

Bailiwick Law Enforcement said: "Everyone in the community knows that drink-driving is totally unacceptable.

"Our message to the people who think they can get away with this reckless act is our officers will stop you, you will face court, and you could face prison."
