Driver arrested for DUI after head-on crash injures 2 in Vancouver

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A driver has been arrested after a head-on crash left two injured in Vancouver Wednesday night, authorities say.

Just before 10 p.m., Vancouver Police said they were investigating a disturbance in the area of St. Johns Boulevard and East 29th Street when they heard a loud crash nearby and responded to the scene.

On arrival, they found that two pickups had been involved in a head-on crash, officials said.

Early investigation determined one of the trucks had been traveling northbound on St. Johns Boulevard while the other was traveling southbound. The northbound driver crossed into the southbound lanes and crashed head-on into the other truck.

The driver and passenger of the latter pickup were taken to the hospital with injuries including broken bones and a dislocated hip.

The driver of the other truck was booked into the Clark County Jail for two counts of vehicular assault and DUI.

The incident is currently under investigation by the Vancouver Police Department Traffic Unit.

No further information has been released at this time.
