Drink purchases linked to Ohio tourism discounts

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Some of Ohio's most popular tourist attractions are tying early summer discounts to fast-food beverage purchases in a new state promotion.

The Discover Ohio To Go promotion is a project of the state's tourism office, McDonald's and Coca-Cola.

Customers at McDonald's restaurants can redeem the cup from their soft drink or iced tea purchase for discounts at more than a dozen Ohio tourism destinations.

Specially marked cups will be available through June 9 in the Cincinnati, Columbus, Dayton, Lima (LY'-muh) and Toledo areas.

Participating attractions include Cedar Point, Kings Island, the Greater Cleveland Aquarium, Hocking Hills Canopy Tours, art and history museums and state parks.

The state hopes the program will provide an early boost to summer tourism.
