A new restaurant co-owned by retired NFL quarterback Drew Brees is set to open in the Louisville area.

Construction is underway to renovate the building on 970 E. Lewis and Clark Parkway, where Walk-On's Sports Bistreaux will be located, according to the website for the city of Clarksville, Indiana. The building formerly housed The Juicy Crab and Logan's Roadhouse. An opening date has not yet been set.

Walk-On's Sports Bistreaux features a Louisiana-inspired menu, including waffle cheese fries, fried alligator and chicken and sausage gumbo. Additionally, it offers traditional sports bar dishes like burgers, wings and sandwiches.

Named in 2012 by ESPN as the number one sports bar in America, Walk-On's chain restaurant has locations established in downtown Indianapolis and on Purdue University's campus, which is Drew Brees' alma mater, making the Clarksville restaurant the third Indiana location.

Described as a family-friendly sports bar, Walk-On's Sports Bistreaux was founded by Brandon Landry and Jack Warner in 2003 before Brees, a former New Orleans Saints quarterback, joined as an investor and co-owner in 2015, according to its website. Landry and Warner met in 1997 as walk-on's to the Louisiana State University men's basketball team.

According to its website, Walk-On's Sports Bistreaux was "create(d) as a restaurant and bar concept that pairs attention-to-detail and culinary excellence with a little Louisiana spice."

"(The owners) worked hard over the years to create a restaurant and bar concept that pairs attention-to-detail and culinary excellence with a little Louisiana spice, pulling in that underdog mindset and hospitality, making you feel like family the moment you walk in," according to a statement on the company website.

Walk-On's Sports Bistreaux has over 70 locations in 15 states.
