(KRON) — With four NBA championships won in their 12 years as teammates, Warriors stars Klay Thompson and Draymond Green’s bond goes beyond the basketball court.

Thompson — like he has done so often in Game 6 of a playoff series — came in clutch for his longtime teammate.

During the massive pro-Palestine Bay Bridge protest during APEC week last November, Green was one of the many drivers stuck in the hours-long traffic jam. Who came in for the rescue?

Klay Thompson.

Thompson was riding his boat across the Oakland Estuary and came in to pick up Green on his boat, Green said in a podcast with Carmelo Anthony released Thursday. The Splash Brother gave Green a ride on his boat from Oakland to the Warriors facility in San Francisco.

“The first time I actually went on Klay’s boat,” Green said. “I was in LA, and I was coming back and I flew into Oakland. The Bay Bridge was shut down. There was a protest on the Bay Bridge… and you couldn’t get across the bridge.

“I couldn’t get to the gym. Klay came on his boat across the water to pick me up at Jack London Square in Oakland.”

Green said he tried to get police to escort him past the Bay Bridge traffic but to no avail. Thompson, along with Warriors VP of Team Operations Eric Housen, were able to get Green across the water.

Green was amidst a five-game suspension after putting Wolves center Rudy Gobert in a chokehold days earlier. The Warriors forward was flying from Los Angeles and flew into Oakland on the day of the protests.

Thompson is known to frequent the Bay Area waters on a boat. He has been popularly nicknamed “Captain Klay,” often going on Instagram Live to document his adventures at sea.

Thompson was drafted by the Warriors in 2011. Green was drafted by the Warriors in 2012. The two have been teammates for their entire careers.
