Drake promises fan he’ll pay off late mother’s mortgage at KC concert

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Rapper Drake made a pricey promise to a fan in Kansas City over the weekend during his “It’s All a Blur Tour – Big as the What?” show.

Drake and fellow rapper J. Cole did a two-day stint in Kansas City.

On Saturday, the headliner promised to pay off a fan’s deceased mother’s mortgage. In the video circulating the internet, Drake can be seen holding a note from the crowd that he read aloud, “Pay off my mom’s house, rest in peace.”

According to the rapper, the mortgage amounts to $160,000.

“This a lot of money right here,” Drake said. “But you know what, I’m gonna pay off your momma’s house for you. That’s 160 bands, but I’m gonna pay it outta my pocket.”

He finished by saying, “Rest in peace to your momma,” as he handed the note back to the fan in the crowd.

This act of generosity isn’t so random for Drake. The “God’s Plan” artist promised fans large sums of money during this tour and previous tours.

The performer blessed a woman who’d beaten cancer at his Nashville show a month ago with $100,000. And that isn’t the only cancer survivor Drake has pledged money to, doing the same at his concert in Buffalo last week.

In 2023 he gifted a woman a $30,000 purse in Los Angeles and $50,000 to another lucky guy in Miami “to flex on” his ex-girlfriend.
