The partnership between OVO and the Toronto Raptors continues to grow stronger, and Drake made an announcement Monday that should catch the attention of hip-hop and sports fans alike.

After taking a hiatus in 2018, Drake stated that OVO Fest, a star-studded concert hosted by his label will be back this summer, and he wants all of the champion Raptors to be there.

“I hope that all these guys will join me this year, because we’re bringing OVO Fest back, so I hope we can go crazy,” Drake announced to the crowd gathered at the rally.

A cynical reading of this development would be that it’s good branding for Drake to be associated with the Raptors at all times. A more measured interpretation is that Drake, who is the team’s global ambassador and an avid fan, would love to have his team on stage, as the summer really does belong to the Raptors after all.

In any case, it should be a fun summer with OVO Fest being a highlight since Drake introduced it in 2010, and this year’s event should be no different.
