'Drag Race' star Jimbo brings Jimbo's Drag Circus tour home to Canada, including our favourite characters

"I'm so happy to just bring a dose of some weirdness across Canada," Jimbo said

Canada's Drag Race, RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars and UK vs. the World legend, Jimbo, is travelling around Canada for Jimbo's Drag Circus. The "One Queen Show" will feature some of the Drag Clown's most beloved characters, including Casper the Baloney Ghost, Shirley Temple and Joan Rivers.

"I want to give people things that they remember from the show, but I like to put a spin on it or give the character a little bit more of a different dimension, or another addition to the story," Jimbo told Yahoo Canada. "It's just awesome to be able to write original songs for these characters so that I get to kind of live in these characters for a moment and show you another side of them, and make you laugh."

Jimbo has been touring the show in the U.S. and has received a great response from American fans.

"It's everything I ever dreamed of," Jimbo said. "I have always wanted to have my own show and to take my show on the road, and do my characters and live my fantasy."

"I'm so happy when people laugh. It's one of my favourite things to do. So I'm just loving it."

While Jimbo has had immense success as the first international talent to win All Stars, the drag queen, who still calls Victoria, B.C., home, is particularly excited to bring Jimbo's Drag Circus to Canadians.

"I know that there's communities across the country that love drag and that need some drag, especially some of these smaller places that maybe there's not a lot of queer shows or strange, weird shows that come through that are entertaining like this," Jimbo said. "I'm so happy to just bring a dose of some weirdness across Canada."

"I love Canada. I love the Canadian sensibility. We're known for our kindness, we're known for our sense of humour, and so I really love to carry that around the world. I love being an ambassador of love and kindness, and expression."

In terms of still remaining a Victoria-based artist, Jimbo gushed about being part of the community of artists in the B.C. capital.

"I love Victoria because there is just an amazing audience here, artists and supporters, and weirdos, and it's really got this DIY sensibility, where people are looking to have a good time," Jimbo highlighted. "People are looking to express themselves and people are eager to share it with other people, and to create opportunities for other people to make art and share their art."

Being a contestant multiple times in the Drag Race universe, Jimbo still keeps up with popular franchise, including Canada's Drag Race.

Back in January Canada's Drag Race Season 4 winner, Venus, told Yahoo Canada that if there was a new Canada-specific All Stars show, she'd want to lip sync against Jimbo. But for Jimbo, Melinda Verga would be the target.

In terms of what's next for Jimbo's journey, an original feature film idea is in the works, in addition to a sketch comedy project.

Jimbo's Drag Circus begins the Canadian leg of the on May 16 in Toronto. Ticket prices range from $35 to $199 (for VIP front row seats with a meet and greet). Admission is restricted to individuals over age 19 or older in most Canadian stops, 18+ in Quebec, Manitoba and Alberta.
