Dr. Dre Detained at Malibu Home After Confrontation With Motorist: Report

Rapper and producer Dr. Dre – né Andre Young – was briefly handcuffed on Monday morning following an alleged incident of road rage outside his Malibu home, according to a report.

The incident occurred when a motorist called the Los Angeles County Sheriff's department, reporting that he'd been threatened by someone with a gun, CBS Los Angeles reported.

Once the police arrived, they reportedly detained Young and placed him in the back of a police cruiser while they investigated.

Young, 51, reportedly told police that the caller parked in front of his home, blocking the driveway, which is when Young told him to move his car.

According to CBS, the caller did move, but quickly returned, parking in the same area, at which point Young began recording the motorist on his phone. However, the caller reportedly "insisted Mr. Young had a handgun and threatened he would be hurt if he did not leave."

A press release from police noted that deputies did not find a weapon and released Young, who denied making threats, at the scene.

PEOPLE has reached out to Young's rep, who has so far been unavailable for comment.
