Denver police investigating social media threats against East High School

DENVER (KDVR) — Denver Public Schools said there will be increased security at East High School on Monday after threats were made on social media.

DPS sent an email to parents Sunday night saying that the Denver Police Department and DPS Department of Safety have been investigating the threats.

“As a safety precaution, and to try to ease the concerns of our students and staff, we will have an additional safety presence at the school and the surrounding area on Monday,” DPS said in the email.

DPS added that members of the counseling and mental health team will be ready to help students and staff who may need additional support.

Denver Public Schools encouraged students to report any issues they know of to a trusted adult, Safe2Tell at 877-542-7233 or online, or to DPD at 720-913-2000.
