DPS: 14-year-old was driver in wreck that killed one teen and hurt three others

One teen was killed and three other teens were injured when a pickup driven by a 14-year-old boy rolled on Saturday, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

By DPS policy, the names of the minors were not released.

According to a press release from the DPS, the accident happened about 10:45 a.m. on County Road 404 about two miles east of Paducah in Cottle County.

The DPS said the pickup left the road, traveled along a barrow ditch, rolled and struck a fence and a power pole. The vehicle ended up on its top.

A 13-year-old boy was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and two 15-year-old girls were taken to a hospital in Childress. Both girls suffered incapacitating injuries while the driver's injuries were listed as non-incapacitating.
