Dozens of Greater New Orleans schools close after severe weather event
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Dozens of schools closed Friday, May 17 after severe weather conditions swept through Southeast Louisiana Thursday night.
Jefferson Parish opens shelter ahead of severe weather
Jefferson Parish
A.C. Alexander, Birney, GT Woods, Greenlawn, Hazel Park, Benson, Bonnabel, Bissonet, Keller, Schneckenburger, Bunche, Audubon and Chateau Estates will be closed Friday.
St. John the Baptist Parish
All St. John Public Schools will be virtual, and offices will be closed.
St. Charles Parish
Harry Hurst Middle School, Carver Early Learning Center, East Bank Head Start Center and Eual J. Landry Educational Programs Center will be closed Friday.
