Is a new downtown hotel opening in Myrtle Beach? Here are the details.

The City of Myrtle Beach is considering adding a new hotel along the beachfront.

The hotel plan brought before the City of Myrtle Beach City Council April 9, 2024, would be located on 23rd Avenue North. According to the proposal, the hotel would have 244 rooms plus 11 one-bedroom suites.

If the hotel chooses to add amenities, it will be allowed to have a pool-front bar, restaurant and other spaces.

According to the proposal, the high rise would be at most 243 feet tall and take three years to complete if the plan is approved. Construction would occur in two parts, including the new oceanfront hotel.

While the proposal does not include a rendering of the hotel, The Post & Courier initially reported it would be a Hilton Garden Inn and Home2Suites hotel.

Hilton Garden Inn did not return a request for comment and Planning & Zoning Department Administrative Assistant Heidi Soos did not return a request for the rendering before publication.

The Hilton Garden Inn is one of many hotels coming to downtown Myrtle Beach. Holiday Inn Club Vacations opened a 152-bed resort in April 2024. A 150-room Margaritaville Hotel, featuring an indoor and outdoor pool, is also scheduled to open in Myrtle Beach in early 2025.
