Dover leaders offer safety advice: Roads closed, power lines down

DOVER -- City leaders announced Sunday morning several roads remained closed due to downed trees and power lines from Saturday's storm. A barn fire has also required the closure of additional streets.

As of 8:30 a.m., the following roads were closed:

  • 570-583 Sixth Street

  • South Watson Road

  • Columbus Ave/Lucy Lane

  • Sixth Street/Long Hill Road

  • Littleworth Road/Knox Marsh Road

  • Glen Hill Road

  • Portland Avenue/Atlantic Avenue

  • 282 Gulf Road, Oak Street to Baer Road

  • Rochester Neck Road at the city line

  • 143 Littleworth Road

The following roads were closed due to an active barn fire:

  • Back Road at Middle Road

  • Back Road at Mallard Lane

Eversource reported 2,355 customers in Dover were still without power as of 8:30 a.m., according to the city announcement. To report a power outage to Eversource, call 1-800-662-7764.

City leaders reminded residents to "not touch downed power lines, and treat all lines as live." Call Dover's Emergency Dispatch at 603-742-4646 to report downed lines within the city. Dial 911 for all emergencies.

Motorists are advised to avoid the closed roads and find alternate routes.

Details on the barn fire were not immediately known.
