Two teens shot on Cordova street

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A 15-year-old girl and an 18-year-old boy are in critical condition after being shot in Cordova Friday.

According to Memphis Police, officers responded to a shooting in the 8500 block of Chimneyrock Boulevard a little after 6 a.m.

Two teenagers were shot– a 15-year-old girl and an 18-year-old boy.

One was taken by private vehicle to St. Francis in critical condition. Another was taken by private vehicle to an area hospital in critical condition.

A WREG reporter on the scene said several people, who are believed to have possibly been in the home at the time of the shooting, were taken into custody for questioning, but none of them were placed in handcuffs.

Neighbors say the people living there moved in just a few months ago and mostly stick to themselves.

“Kids think that that’s the only way to get what they want,” said neighbor Ruth King. “It all starts with the parents. It all starts in the home.”

Police have not released a motive for the shooting and have provided little details about the person responsible for pulling the trigger.

MPD says this is an ongoing investigation.
